Read MoreThe season keeps moving along nicely for all of our Suns families. Auskick and NetSetGo are going really well. We now have 96 kids registered in Auskick which is by far our biggest year yet. Well done to all our volunteers from Auskick and NetSetGo who make each Friday night fun for the kids in our community.
One of our awesome NetSetGo families (The Moreton's) are organising a footy boot drive for indigenous kids in the remote community of Nhulunbuy, which is in Arnhem Land Northern Territory. This is a fantastic initiative and would ask all families if they have any footy boots that your kids have outgrown to drop them off to the club after training or games in the next two weeks, so that they can be taken up to Nhulunbuy in late June. Thanks for getting behind this great cause,
The netball girls continue to improve each week which is great to see. They are becoming more and more competitive and goal scoring has increased each game as well. Great job girls, keep it up.

Good luck to all our teams playing this weekend.
Round 5 will be a huge round with all four footy teams playing at home on Friday night.
Our two under 9's teams will battle it out for bragging rights in a club first "mate verse mate" Suns derby. I'm sure all our boys and girls will be just as excited as their mums and dads to see this spectacle. Both teams are really evenly matched, so hopefully it will be a close game.

At this stage the weather isn't looking great for Friday night, so please make sure your kids have warm clothes prior to and after their games. The club change rooms will also be open for them to shelter in before and after their games as well.
I would also like to take the opportunity to wish all of our wonderful Suns mums, step-mums and carers all the best for Mother's day on Sunday. Thanks from all of our kids for putting up with us and getting us to and from training and games each week. We don't always show it, but we certainly appreciate all you do. Happy Mother's day for Sunday!
Good luck to all but most importantly, have fun.
Go Suns!
It has been a fantastic week at the Surf Coast Suns Football Netball Club! We are all so proud of how all of our kids continue to improve week in week out.

Under 11's celebrate their third win in a row
All of our players this year have already exceeded our expectations. The new kids and those that have transitioned from Auskick have settled in really well and made lots of new friends. The kids that have been around for a year or two have shown an enormous amount of improvement and we are really excited about the direction we are heading as a club.
This week, all four of our teams came away with wins, so well done to you all of our players, coaches and supporters. A big shout out to our under 10's who had their first win with only 12 players on the field after a couple of late withdrawals due to illness.

Next Friday there will be no netball games on due to the clash with the Geelong Cats home game. Netball games will resume the following week on the 11th May.
If any girls would like to wear their training shirts or netball dresses and help out for an hour with NetSetGo on Friday night please let Nicole or Amber know. It runs from 5-600pm. Our future netball stars would love to see you there.
We've had some great numbers rocking up the last two weeks, with almost 100 kids involved. Joel has done a fantastic job getting the new format up and running, ably assisted by Tom. We are thrilled with the amount of parent helpers that are getting involved as well, so thank you all very much.
A big shout out to Penny, Sophie and Paula for running the bbq and to Mark who has been helping out week in week out for over a year now.
Each week we are going to need to rotate a few different families through the bbq and canteen so that it isn't always the same people doing it. If you can help out with this, please let Joel know.

There were heaps of families out enjoying themselves at Auskick on Friday night

Some of the NetSetGo girls enjoying the activities
From what I saw of NetSetGo on Friday, there was lots of kids smiling, laughing and having fun which is absolutely awesome! I also saw plenty of parents getting involved and helping with the activities and they looked to me like they were having just as much, if not more fun than the kids. Well done to you all, it was really great to see.
A big thank you to Mark's mum (I'm really sorry, I've forgotten your name) who did an amazing job getting things on track. You're a superstar!
Keep up the good work and keep having fun!

In 2017 we held the clubs inaugural Surf Coast Suns Golf Classic. This was a great fundraiser for the club and a really fun day. This year we will be doing it again on Friday 14th September. It will be held at one of our Gold Sponsors venues, The Sands Torquay.

Last year we had around 50 people participate on the day and everyone had a ball. This year we are aiming to have between 80-100 people involved, however tickets will be capped at 100.
The day includes 18 holes of golf with a motorised cart, BBQ lunch, entry into the end of year raffle and prizes.
It is open to everyone, even if you've never played before. It is Ambrose rules, meaning you will go around in teams of four and the player that has the best shot, is where everyone hits the next shot from.

It's an awesome day and I encourage you to sign up before June 30 to receive the discounted price of $100 per person. After this date, the price will go up to $120 per person.
If you can grab a team of four people, that makes it even easier to organise, so ring your family and friends and get them involved in our great club too.
What a crazy weekend of sport at the Surf Coast Suns! Friday night could aptly be described as hectic with two games of footy, three games of netball, almost 100 kids at Auskick and roughly 30 at NetSetGo.
Thank you to everyone that volunteered in one way or another on the night or over the weekend. I want to give a special shout out to a few people who were absolutely awesome. Jess, who again put a huge effort into ensuring things went well on the night, Rachael, Penny, Emily, Jane, Dave, Mike, Gav, Lucy, Kristin, Scott and the many others that offered to or did help out. I apologise to those I have missed, you are all fantastic!
Congratulations to Joel for getting Auskick off to a great start to the year. This is by far the biggest group we have ever had and are really excited about the future of the club as we continue to expand, particularly with the big jump in the number of girls giving footy a crack.
A big thank you to Mark who did a great job with NetSetGo on Friday as well. We had a couple of people pull out because of illness and we really appreciate Mark stepping in to run the session. Mark has offered to help most weeks with NetSetGo which is awesome, however he will be away next week, so we will need a couple more parent helpers to assist.
All of us are volunteers at the Suns, we are a grass roots community club and the more people that help out, the better it is for the kids. Kids love seeing their parents getting involved and helping out, so please offer a hand wherever you can to help share the load.
Our footy teams played their second grading games with the exception of under 10's who had a bye this week. It was great to see the improvement continue and everyone getting touches and sharing the footy around. Congratulations to Adrian for notching up his first win as a coach.
Our netball teams did a great job in their first grading game of the year, given the limited preparation due to the recent school holidays. Thanks so much to Nicole who has been doing a great job in the lead up to the season starting and also to our coaches Taylah and Amber.
