About the Surf Coast Suns
The Surf Coast Suns Football Netball Club is a community-driven organisation that celebrates teamwork, inclusivity, and the joy of sport. Our mission is to provide a fun, supportive, and family-friendly environment where players of all ages and abilities can develop their skills, make lasting friendships, and stay active.
We’re more than just a sporting club; we’re a growing community of players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who share a passion for sport and a commitment to helping each other shine, both on and off the court and field.
Our History
Established in 2016, the Surf Coast Suns Football Netball Club is a proudly volunteer-led organisation built on strong community values and a shared love of sport.
Located at the Banyul-Warri Fields sporting precinct in Torquay, the club was created to inspire local families to live active, healthy lives and to provide children of all abilities with the opportunity to enjoy team sport in a supportive environment.
As the newest of Torquay’s two football and netball clubs, the Suns were formed in response to the rapid growth of the North Torquay community and the increasing demand for family-oriented sporting opportunities.
The Suns fielded their first football teams in the AFL Barwon Geelong Junior Football competition in 2016 and, by the end of that same year, proudly entered their first teams into the Geelong Summer Netball competition.
Since then, the club has continued to thrive, expanding its programs, growing its membership, and strengthening its reputation as a welcoming, community-first club. By 2024, the Suns were fielding both football and netball teams across summer and winter competitions, with plans to continue this growth through the coming years.
Looking ahead, the club is excited to expand into a Senior Football and Netball Club in 2026, marking an exciting new chapter for the Surf Coast Suns and the wider Torquay community.
